The Kaipatiki Environment Centre serves as the main base for the volunteers of the Kaipatiki Project; a local innovative eco-hub aiming to grow a sustainable future for people and nature. The structural design was part of the Auckland Council Green Building Challenge. Engineered timber was used right through the building to maximise the embodied carbon, from timber piles through to glulam portal frames and purlins. Alternate timber treatments were carefully selected to avoid any toxic building materials.
